The following is the Fleek Driving guide on the 10 things you need to know before booking your first driving lessons. You must:

1. Be aged 17 or older unless you hold a mobility component (PIP) certificate then you can start your driving lessons at 16.

2. Have a provisional licence - it costs £34 and you can apply for one by clicking here, or by using a D1 form from your local post office. You have to be aged at least 15 years and 9 months to hold one.

3. Be able to read a number plate from 20 metres away. You can use glasses or contact lenses if needed.

4.  Make sure the vehicle your driving is roadworthy, MOT, taxed and insured. You may be personally be liable if these things are not in place.

5. Clearly display L plates on the front and rear of any car you are using so that people can see you are a learner.

6.  Choose an approved driving instructor (ADI) for your lessons to get the best results. If not then your instructor must be a fully qualified driver who is over 21 years old - though some insurers requier that age to be 25+ so please check. They must also have a full licence for a minimum of three years.

7. Book at least 2 hours for your first lesson as the initial lesson will usually consist of an introduction to the cocpit controls - Seat Arrangements, Steering Wheels, Pedals, Clutch Controls, Gears - which equates to more theory than driving. You may want to actually experince a bit more of a drive on your fist lesson.

8. Be aware that you are not be able to drive on motoways.

9. Ensure that you are not under the influence of alchol or drugs.

10. Get a good nights sleep the night before you take your first lesson. Be calm, enjoy the experience and believe in your own abilities. Driving instructors are trained to ensure that you are safe when behind the wheel.
